The anticipation about The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, especially after host Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a desert monolith. The secret has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is working on a fresh Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was presented with a daring trailer that included intense imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the very descent into chaos.
Not the Expected Sequel
Anyone hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian warned that a third Original Sin game to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not being worked on now.
That said, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the core franchise. This phrasing suggests that the team might be crafting a real-time experience instead of another turn-based title. For now, this is speculation, as only a cinematic trailer is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is universally respected and many say it pioneered the contemporary revival of deep computer role-playing games. These games are defined by detailed worlds, branching plots, and deep class systems—qualities that later reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency given to the player.
